The John Watson Trio

Every Friday and Saturday night the John Watson Trio set the mood in the Palm Court with a cool mixture of jazz standards, tastefully arranged contemporary songs and a few original compositions. The trio consists of John Watson on piano, Miles Danso on bass and Louie Palmer on drums. John Watson (piano)

John has performed as singer, pianist and keyboard player in many different situations from hotels to jazz clubs, from festivals to house parties. These include:Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho, Hammersmith Apollo, JVC Jazz Festival Paris, Grand-Hôtel Du Cap-Ferrat Music Festival and St. Regis Hotel New York. He is also a respected accompanist and long time musical director of Leee John and legendary 80’s group Imagination. John has released several CDs including his latest trio album The JW3 Live At The Langham(recorded live in the Palm Court and available on CD and download). Crescendo & Jazz Music said of him, “…clearly knew his stuff.....John Watson is quite a find.”



Miles Danso (bass)

Miles has played in many different genres from jazz to world music. Artists he has worked with include Jim Mullen, Soweto Kinch, Tony Kofi, David McAlmont, Juliet Roberts, Nathan Haines and Leee John. He has recorded and toured worldwide with internationally acclaimed Israeli Ladino artist Yasmin Levy and performed in two West End shows: Big Life (the Ska musical!) and Simply Heavenly.


Louie Palmer (drums)

Louie is extremely proficient in all styles and has performed with jazz luminaries such as Jason Rebello and Lawrence Cottle and, in contrast, legendary rock band Barclay James Harvest. In 2001, Louie earned a 'World Tour Scholarship' to attend the world-renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA and has also studied extensively with world class drummers including Dave Weckl.
